Mission and values
Staffilo actively contributes to the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle and the protection of the environment by offering consumers quality wines obtained through the application of the organic method.
Surroundings
We are in Torre di Mosto, the place where love blossomed between Ernest Hemingway, an American writer and journalist who took part in the First World War as a correspondent, and a Red Cross nurse working in the town hall.
Torre Mosto’s surroundings are the home of Venetian villas and some historical and cultural treasures of indescribable value: Villa Zeno on the border between Ceggia and Cessalto, Villa Loro in Gainiga are both expressions of Palladio’s architectural legacy; the three-arched Roman bridge built between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, on the route of the Via Annia between Staffolo and Ceggia, is an evidence of the passage of Roman culture through our territory.
Enological Vocation
Torre di Mosto is crossed by the Livenza, one of the largest rivers in Veneto. Its crystal-clear water are used to irrigate the soil, which is particularly suitable for growing vines.
In fact, thanks to its organic properties, the soil allows the plant to grow robustly and, since it is limotrophic to the sea, It’s positively affected by the temperate air of the Adriatic.
The food and beverage combinations between our area’s wine and specialities such as the traditional Venetian cicchetti, fish-based starters and risottos, fried foods and white meats are a winning combination acknowledged throughout the world.
Venice
Staffilo is linked to Venice, an elegant, precious, inimitable, fun and romantic city, a diamond on the Italian tourist scene.
Among the marvels of the Lagoon city there are St. Mark’s Square with its imposing Bell Tower and the Basilica with its five portals, priceless marble and mosaic decorations.
A must-see is the Doge’s Palace, a symbol of the golden age of the Serenissima and the Clock Tower, a masterpiece of engineering.
Not to be missed are the exhibitions and museums in the city of Venice: the Correr Museum, the Galleria dell’Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection on display at Palazzo Venier dei Leoni and the Arsenale, now home to the Biennale d’arte e architettura.
A family story
Harvest was the time when children enjoyed collecting grapes in boxes, with the expert help of my family and adults living nearby. We all worked hard together and when the work was done We had lunch as one big family.
The grapes were crushed in the big vat and the adults turned the must into wine with great effort. Some was sold to the wineries for the family’s subsistence and the rest was used for the celebrations.
These memories are permanently impressed in my heart and made me passionate about the land and viticulture.
